The “Antiques Roadshow,” is a favorite. What’s it worth? Many standing in line with old family treasures. We don’t see the thousands of items that aren’t “worthy” of the show but there are plenty of things of value that don’t make the show. I’m not talking about thousands of dollars, maybe hundreds. But these are still items families don’t wish to part with but want to know what they have.
Don’t assume something from the 1970’s or 1980’s is worth anything. Even 1990’s clothing is more popular on the secondary market than 1980’s. The “Antiques Roadshow” shows the very very best. What it takes them to find enough really good stuff for an episodes takes THOUSANDS of people through the door.
What you see on TV doesn’t tell the whole story on values for vintage, antique or second hand items.

Dealers buy at wholesale so items can be sold online, in a store and they can pay all the things that make you a real business. Including taxes. I’m a Chicago Antique appraiser but will look at things not antique too. 1990’s and prior.
The focus of my evaluations are 1920’s to the 1990’s, but I will always look at pieces that are older. From costume and estate jewelry to art, the list of vintage times we’ll appraise is long.
